But that may be changing, as business needs and customer expectations continue to ramp up and change at a rapid pace. Many businesses demand realtime, on-demand access to key details and data that make their company run and stay competitive.
Things like efficiency, productivity, cost control and more are driving businesses to explore and progress data center capabilities.
Projects like the QTS Innovation Lab (QIL) and QTS’ Service Delivery Platform illustrate this shift. According to QTS, the lab is “designed to quickly and scientifically evaluate new concepts” and is “working to progress data center capabilities,” by integrating artificial intelligence, machine learning and predictive analytics into processes.
“QIL takes already-digitized data center information and sculpts it to deliver realtime, forward-thinking capabilities that forecast and automate data center operations. QIL’s accelerated process works to deliver dynamic innovations poised to change the way users interact with their environments.” — QTS, on the QTS Innovation Lab
QTS contends the data and tools are already out there to provide customers with the data center and colocation services they need to remain competitive in today’s market.
Having access to big data is the first step, according to the report. But using new technologies takes it a step further, like AI, machine learning, data analytics and visualization. The combination, QTS says, can be “game changing.”
“These technologies use complex models to aggregate silos of data and extrapolate business-driving solutions, powerful insights and seemingly endless value,” the report states.
The QIL was launched last year as an accelerated and dedicated development environment for SDP innovations. The QIL works to “rapidly conceptualizes and vets new, pivotal and industry-advancing capabilities that enrich the data center environment,” according to the report.
How? A team of tech experts, including data scientists, AI, ML, and visualization experts, and CTOs, work together to discuss and innovate how the data center addresses its current challenges.
